Everything you need to be successful in your Body-for-Life journey can be found for free at www.BodyforLife.com.

In addition to the web site, I found Bill Phillips' book, Body for Life, to be an excellent tool to help me on my 12-week journey as well as a source of inspiration. It is full of other success stories of people who overcame great obstacles to be successful. I knew after reading this book that if they could succeed, so could I.

If you would like to purchase the book, click on the image and it will take you to my "DAM Good Shopping" site where you can buy it at a discount. Please note that my motivation is not to sell books. I am truly interested in helping other people find the information they need to meet their fitness goals.

A Brief Overview
Six Meals A Day - Get ready to eat a lot, because the Body-for-Life eating program consists of eating six healthy meals each day. That is approximately one meal every 2 1/2 hours.

A meal consists of a healthy portion of a carbohydrate (e.g., fruit, healthy bread) and a healthy portion of protein (e.g., fish, skinless chicken, or an occasional red meat). In addition, two of the meals should have a healthy portion of vegetables (e.g., carrots, lettuce)

What is a Healthy Portion? - A healthy portion should fit in the palm of your hand; for a fruit, it should be the size of your closed fist.

Can I use Supplements? -  Not only are you allowed to use supplements, they are encouraged for at least two of the meals each day and it is required that you use at least one of the EAS, Body-for-Life sanctioned products to be an official candidate in the Body-for-Life Challenge. Although your grocery store may carry EAS products, I would suggest trying Target, I have found them significantly cheaper there. One supplement will cost you between $1.25 and $1.80. The good news is that they actually taste good.

Water - In addition to consuming six meals a day, you should drink two 10-ounce glasses of water with every meal.

The Dream Dinners Advantage
Dream Dinners is not an affiliate of Body-for-Life, but I have found that they work well with this program.

What Is Dream Dinners - Dream Dinners is an innovative concept as a meal preparation service that eliminates menu planning, shopping, prep-work, and clean-up by moving the meal assembly process out of people's kitchens and into specially equipped stores. Essentially you pick out all the meals that you to prepare for a month, go to a Dream Dinners store, where you prepare them all in about an hour or two and then take them home and freeze them. At the beginning of the week pull out of the freezer what you want to eat during the week so that it has time to defrost. Once defrosted, follow the easy instructions and you will have a great, healthy meal in about 30-minutes on average.

Monday through Saturday
There is no such thing as a perfect eating day on the Body-for-Life program. With this in mind, below I have included a chart on what I strive for. I have also included the approximate cost of each meal to demonstrate how cost effective it is to eat healthy.

Note: The best way to obtain fat loss is to work out first thing in the morning on a empty stomach, before your first meal. This way the calories you burn are your reserves (fat). I tend to do this on cardio days, however, I like the extra energy and strength some food gives me, so I eat before going to the gym on my free-weight days.

8:00 AM A bowl of Kashi, Go Lean Crunch with non-fat milk $2.00
10:30 AM An EAS bar or shake and a piece of fruit $2.50
12:30 PM Dream Dinners left over or a grilled chicken wrap. $5.00
3:00 PM An EAS bar or shake and a piece of fruit $2.50
6:00 PM A Dream Dinners meal and steamed vegetables $7.00
8:00 PM An EAS bar or shake and a piece of fruit $2.50
Total Cost - Approximately one dinner out $22.50

Sunday - Day Off
That's right, take the day off. Rest your body, no exercise routine required. The best part is that you can also eat whatever you want today! That's right, whatever you want. My results included having delicious foods like Cold Stone ice cream, pizza, and beer on my day off.

Enjoy it. You earned it!
